Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his future after another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points obviously but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over known failings from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a phase of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to the top, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
