19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.
This represents the player's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from March of 2023.
Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 various tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
The player's counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an better serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.
Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.
He saved 4 early-game break points in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Suitably, he secured victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
