🔗 Share this article UN:Me: A Psychological Thriller Merging Silent Hill with Among Us Gameplay The recent Day of the Devs digital showcase unveiled several intriguing upcoming titles, but one especially has seized attention: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player experience appears to fuse together the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill title with the paranoid deduction core of Among Us. "It's a distinctive experience where a young woman containing multiple personalities inside her needs to flee from a labyrinth of the psyche," states developer Yasukazu Kawai. Entering a Fractured Consciousness In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed heroine who appears to be of teenage years. Within her exist four distinct souls, each with unique fears and drives. These souls can take over at will, unleashing their innermost phobias upon her suddenly. Based on revealed gameplay, much of the action takes place within a eerie hospital, while other scenes show the main character exploring a desolate chapel. A World of Individual Dread "What makes you fearful of? What makes you uneasy?" poses game director Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Confined spaces. Authority figures. Things that seem trivial to others can activate a deep instinct within us. This game explores that concept — anxieties that are unique to each person." The core mechanic revolves around managing whichever soul surfaces at any given time. However, these souls will switch involuntarily during gameplay. While exploring, each soul's fears become amplified and assault the girl in succession. As the persona changes, so does the specific fear the player experiences. Unsettling Visuals and a Deadly Choice At first glance, UN:Me shares striking visual similarities with the Silent Hill series. The setting is populated by nurses all sporting the identical visage, with unnervingly wide smiles. Patients in the waiting room have large blooms where their heads are. Floral motifs are an ever-present theme, contrasting natural beauty with supernatural dread. Yet, UN:Me introduces a unique twist. Players must determine which of the four entities inhabiting the protagonist is the "real" one. "All four souls claims that the physical form is rightfully them," notes a creator. "During the game, you need to figure out who is real." Once players have deduced a persona is an impostor, they must eliminate it. However, since each soul can deceive or hide the truth, it is very easy to choose incorrectly. "Maybe you've already destroyed the real [soul] by your own actions," a voice states. "The final entity remaining might be a fake. In any case, your choices are irreversible." UN:Me currently lacks a confirmed launch window, but it is available to wishlist on digital storefronts.
